Dispositivo Mnemotécnico
Crear patrones a través de dispositivos mnemotécnicos, como acrónimos, categorización de ítems, imágenes visuales o rimas, apoya el desarrollo de recuerdos, incluyendo el conocimiento de contenido aprendido. A medida que los adultos envejecen, muchas habilidades cognitivas comienzan a declinar. En ese punto, los adultos comienzan a depender más de los dispositivos mnemotécnicos para ayudar a organizar la información y apoyar la memoria de los aprendices, el razonamiento de orden superior, y la Resolución de Problemas creativa.
Es importante notar que algunos mnemotécnicos pueden permitir la memorización pero eliminar una comprensión más profunda (por ejemplo, el acrónimo PEMDAS (Pedro/Paréntesis, Estudia/Exponente, Matemáticas /Multiplicar, Durante /División, Aventuras /Adición, Secretas/Sustracciones) para recordar el orden de operaciones en matemáticas, por lo que es importante que estos dispositivos no se introduzcan hasta después de lograr una comprensión conceptual.
